Call me crazy but I don't really think Chord Overstreet or his fans have anything to worry about. Yes I know it was announced last weekend (on the last day of Glee's tour in the UK) that Darren Criss and Harry Shum Jr were getting promoted to regulars and Chord was not but I have a feeling Sam will still be a regular fixture next season.
Ryan Murphy is not always completely honest when he discusses the show (he gave so many mixed messages and lies about Kurt's love interest last season). Chord is popular with the fans, totally adorable, willing to go shirtless, and often and immensely talented. (Chord's version of Baby Baby actually had me liking the dumb song!). Harry Shum has been a 'guest star' since first appearing in the shows forth episode Preggers, but has appeared in pretty much every episode since. Jessalyn Gilsig, Jayma Mays, Jenna Ushkowitz and Amber Riley have all been regulars the past two years and often are given little, or nothing to do for weeks at a time.
The show still has not found a way to properly use Jane Lynch. Jane's Sue has not hit the right note since early in season 1. She is either underused or overused to the point of becoming an annoying cartoon.
Being a regular on Glee does not guarantee an actor screen time or storyline, that is usually up to the whim of Ryan Murphy. Usually his whims run between Lea Michelle and Chris Colfer with not much room for the rest of the cast most times anyway. I could be wrong but I think we will be seeing about as much as Sam next season as we did next.
Chord should have joined Shum and Criss, Dianna Agron and Jenna Ushkowitz on Keenan Cahill's new youtube vido of Katy Perry's Last Friday Night! Oh How I love me some Harry!
